The Best Golf Destinations in February (2027 Honest Guide)

First, the three weeks that wreck February

This matters more than the destination ranking, so it goes first.

• WM Phoenix Open week (early February): the largest-attendance event in professional golf, held at TPC Scottsdale. Hotel rates across Scottsdale commonly run two to three times normal, restaurants book out weeks ahead, and the Stadium Course is closed to public play. Brilliant if the tournament is the trip. Ruinous if you stumbled into it.
• Valentine's weekend: resort properties in Scottsdale, Palm Springs, Florida and Cabo impose two and three night minimums and premium dinner pricing. A minor effect on golf, a real effect on the bill, and a genuine problem if partners are on the trip and expecting the restaurants to be normal.
• Presidents Day weekend (third Monday): a long weekend that fills every warm-weather resort in the country. Rates up 30 to 40%, three-night minimums, full tee sheets.

What is left is the last full week of February, which is consistently the best combination of weather and price in the entire winter. If your group can only agree on one thing, make it that week.

1. Scottsdale (the best February weather in America)

February is when Scottsdale becomes genuinely perfect. Highs of 70 to 75°F, overnight lows in the high 40s rather than the low 40s, and that difference is bigger than it sounds: the early tee time stops being a test of endurance and frost delays disappear. Course conditioning is at its annual peak because the overseed has fully matured.

Best for: bachelor parties, milestone trips, partner trips with Old Town, spa and hot air balloon options.

2. Palm Springs (nearly as good, noticeably cheaper)

The Coachella Valley in February gives you 72 to 78°F, almost no rain, and over 100 courses within a short drive. It is a fraction less glamorous than Scottsdale and correspondingly less expensive, and the volume of stay-and-play packages means a four-round long weekend assembles itself easily.

February is cleaner here than January because the American Express tournament in La Quinta is already past. There is no equivalent February disruption in the valley beyond the national holiday weekends.

Best for: West Coast groups, high-volume golf, groups who want peak-season weather without peak-season Scottsdale pricing.

3. Cabo San Lucas (the warmest option)

Cabo runs 78 to 80°F in February with reliable sunshine and essentially no rain, which makes it the warmest serious option on this list. The courses at Diamante, Quivira and Cabo del Sol are dramatic and genuinely worth the trip, and the resort infrastructure suits mixed groups where not everybody is playing every day.

As in January, course access is tied to where you stay, since several of the best layouts are private or resort-guest-only. Sort the golf access before you commit to the hotel.

Best for: groups with budget, partner trips, milestone birthdays where the resort matters.

4. South Florida (settled and reliable)

February is the most settled month of the Florida winter. Naples and Palm Beach run 75 to 78°F, humidity is low, and the cold-front risk that can spoil a January morning in central Florida has largely faded. Streamsong, TPC Sawgrass and Innisbrook are all in excellent condition.

Best for: East Coast groups, mixed-ability groups, partner trips wanting beach and town over desert.

5. The Algarve (the value pick, better than in January)

February is a clear improvement on January in the Algarve. Temperatures rise to 17 to 18°C (low to mid 60s Fahrenheit), the January rainfall peak has passed, and almond blossom makes the inland courses genuinely lovely. Prices are still at off-peak levels, well below the summer rate.

Best for: European groups, value-driven trips, groups who want volume of golf over prestige.

Destinations to skip in February

• Scotland and Ireland: still cold, still dark early, still a bad idea. May and September are the answer.
• Bandon Dunes: the wet season has not finished. Wait for late spring at the earliest.
• Pebble Beach: the AT&T Pro-Am in early February closes courses and inflates the whole peninsula, and it is still the rainy season regardless.
• Pinehurst and the Carolinas: improving on January by late February but still in the 50s with real frost-delay risk. April is the month.
• Myrtle Beach: cheap and playable, but the Atlantic wind at 55°F is not what the group had in mind.

Booking timing

February needs the earliest booking of any month on the calendar, purely because of the tournament and holiday weeks. For Phoenix Open week, six to nine months ahead if you actually want it. For everything else in Scottsdale, Palm Springs, Cabo and Florida, 90 days out is right, and Presidents Day weekend wants 120.
